Thesis statement
Thesis statement is the main idea of an essay. It is always more than a title and it commonly takes a stand and shows a direction.
It is the strongest, clearest idea of the essay and it is positioned
at the end of the introduction. It MUST NOT BE A SIMPLE STATEMENT THAT
GIVES NO GROUNDS FOR ELABORATION, but something that requires and ahas
the possibilities for further development. We can use questions in the
introduction just to attract attention, but thesis statement cannot be
a question because it has no stand.
There are 3 different types of thesis statement:
- Expressive - conveying and impression or a mood,
- Informative - informing readers of all points that will be covered in whole essay
- Persuasive - presenting arguments, it is taking a strong stand on a specific position in an argument (always in argumentative essays).
